Busy as can be

It’s been almost months since I’ve written an update here – and for good reason: we’ve been busy! The latter half of the semester is usually heavier course-work than the beginning, and this semester is no exception. I was fairly well prepared for that, but a few other details have served to make things particularly interesting hereabouts, not least our good friends PJ and Katie’s baby boy Seth arriving on March 24. (He is adorable, for the record.) What with helping take care of their children then, and doing so a few times since as doctor trips and one ER visit have come up, we’ve had just a little more on our plate than usual. As a result, I got a bit behind on tackling papers for classes, and therefore spent the last week and a half scrambling to get caught back up so that none of the three papers due in a 72-hour span this weekend1 would slip through the cracks.

Christmas Letter 2012

Dear friends and family,

This last year has been quite the adventure. A year ago, Jaimie was in her second trimester, I worked for Northrop Grumman, and we were planning on starting seminary in August. Today, Elayne Kaylee Krycho is almost 7 months old, I work for a wonderful little company called Quest Consultants, and we’re still in Norman, Oklahoma – but not for much longer!

Almost 7 weeks. Things are changing.

Ellie will be 7 weeks old on Sunday. To put it mildly, that just seems crazy. It’s not going too fast, but I sure don’t want to blink.

Our past four weeks

This isn’t just a photoblog, I promise! Not that you all mind pictures of my beautiful wife too much, I think (nor will you mind pictures of our beautiful daughter, methinks), but life updates are always in good order as well. And there is plenty to say. Read on, intrepid explorer →

A Matter of Hope

That last post was written carefully. (I adapted it from an email to friends, and even then I was careful.) It is exceptionally important, I think, to speak and write carefully when our hearts are full of less than pleasant things. As, truth be told, mine is when it comes to much of the news I shared. I wanted to be clear that I see the direction we are headed as good, and to make it clear that I trust God is working these things for good.

However, the reality is that I am not particularly happy about the decision. At times, I’ve been everything from mildly disappointed to deeply angry about it. Read on, intrepid explorer →

A timeline update

I sat down to examine our finances about two weeks ago, and as I started considering where our savings accounts are at now, how much we’re putting away monthly, and how much we will be able to put away in the future, I started wondering whether August makes the most sense for us to start at SEBTS.

The short answer, on financial terms alone, is no. Read on, intrepid explorer →

Challenges, blessings, and transitions

If I haven’t written much this week on most of my blogs, well, it’s because I’ve been pretty busy.

One of the major transitions Jaimie and I have already gone through is that I’ve picked up some extra work on the side. I now spend 10-15 hours a week doing back end web development consulting work. Read on, intrepid explorer →
